Are You Still Using Regular L-Carnitine?

Carnitine is one of the best natural fat loss and performance aid supplements on the market today. Without sufficient amounts of carnitine, fat is not properly metabolized in mitochondria to be burned for fuel.

The problem with regular L-Carnitine is that it isn’t very well absorbed by the human body.

Superior Forms of Carnitine

There are 2 main forms of Carnitine naturally found in the body: L-Carnitine Tartrate and Acetyl-L-Carnitine. L-Carnitine Tartrate is stored in just about every part of the  body, it is mainly found in muscle cells. The acetyl-L-Carnitine  form is primarily found in the central nervous system, specifically the brain.

Both forms of Carnitine serve as a means for transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. When this happens, fatty acids are  transformed into ATP (adenosine triphospahte) in a process called beta-oxidation. ATP is the main source of fuel and energy for the body. This provides energy for muscle tissue allowing them to sustain their functions for longer periods of time. Thus, promoting endurance. Carnitine has a nutrient partitioning effect when eaten with a small amount of carbohydrates, its utilization and function is enhanced.

L-Carnitine Tartrate

L-Carnitine Tartrate is mainly found in muscle tissue. The main function of L-Carnitine Tartrate is to provide an extra source of ATP for muscle tissue. Because of its role in mobilizing fat to muscle tissue, L-Carnitine-Tartrate helps in fat oxidation and improves muscle endurance by preserving muscle glycogen (stored energy)  and preventing the buildup of lactic acid. Lactic acid build-up is a a factor in muscular fatigue and soreness.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR)

Acetyl-L-Carnitine has a unique effect in the body due to its ability to penetrate the blood brain barrier. It plays a major role in providing energy for brain cells, focus and concentration. Its main function is its ability to become a substrate for production of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a major neurotransmitter that carries signals from motor neurons to the body’s muscles. ALCAR also has antioxidant properties which protect brain tissue from the destructive effects of aging and of free radicals. Free radicals are the number one cause for cellular destruction. Preventing or delaying free radical damage are the mainstay of keeping your cells thriving, and staying healthy.

L-Carnitine Tartrate Vs. Acetyl-L-Carnitine

Given that the effects of L-Carnitine Tartrate and Acetyl-L-Carnitine are distinct from each other; it would be unfair to make them compete against each other. If you are mainly aiming for weight loss and better physical performance both forms are good choices.  If you are primarily looking to enhance the health of your brain, Acetyl-L-Carnitine would be the form to supplement with.

Carnitine 2.0 contains clinical dosages of both L-Carnitine Tartrate and Acetyl-L-Carnitine  (ALCAR) allowing you to get the benefits of both and not choose one over the other. Given that both forms of carnitine perform vital functions for the human body and brain, you get both

When To Take Carnitine 2.0

Recommended dosage (adults): Take 1-3 capsules, 2-4 times per day.

Carnitine 2.0 can be taken any time of the day, with or without meals. However, it is recommended to take before workouts, after workouts and with meals high in carbohydrates.

  • Before workouts – To increase fat loss and mental acuity.

  • After workouts – Post workout carnitine supplementation has been clinically proven to reduce muscle damage from strenuous exercise and improve recovery.

  • With meals high in carbohydrates – The insulin release from high carbohydrate meals enhances the assimilation of carnitine into muscle tissues. The nutrient partitioning effects of Carnitine 2.0 also helps prevent excess carbohydrates from being stored as fat.

Carnitine 2.0 contains no stimulants so it can be taken close to bed time without affecting sleep.
